What you get

What a new website should do for your business

Your site won’t be my first. Since 2016 I’ve delivered 154 Upwork jobs for more than 100 clients, and 94 of them were WordPress and Divi websites: new builds, redesigns and rebuilds for NewtonX, Keller Williams Realty Consultants, the Institute of Reading Development, the World Food Travel Association, Website HQ and Arlene P., among others. Every one is listed on my Upwork profile.

More calls from people searching nearby

A page for each service and each town you serve, schema markup, and your Google Business Profile connected, so the site shows up when neighbors search.

A price you know before work starts

A written, fixed quote after a free consultation. Sites start at $2,500 and the number does not creep once we agree on it.

One person, start to finish

I design it, build it, write it and launch it. When you call with a question, you reach the person who made the last change.

Website design

From $2,500 one-time

A five-page site for a service business sits near that number. More pages, copywriting, booking or a store add to it. You get a written, fixed quote after a free consultation. No contract lock-in.

Who’s searching for Kalamazoo businesses

Kalamazoo had 73,598 people at the 2020 census, and it’s the county seat of Kalamazoo County. The wider Kalamazoo–Portage metro area had 261,670. Most of the suburban population sits south of the city in Portage and west in Oshtemo and Texas townships. Your customers cross those lines without noticing, so a Kalamazoo website that only talks about the city misses a lot of them.

The employers here shape who’s searching. Stryker was founded in Kalamazoo in 1941 and moved its headquarters to Portage in 2023. The old Upjohn Company, founded here in 1886, became part of Pfizer, and most of its former sites in the area are now run by Pfizer or Zoetis. Zoetis has its global research and development headquarters downtown. Bronson Methodist Hospital and Beacon Kalamazoo, formerly Ascension Borgess, are the city’s two teaching hospitals. That’s a lot of professionals, shift workers and patients, and most of them find local businesses on a phone.

Kalamazoo web design for a college town

Kalamazoo is home to Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo College and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. WMU’s West Campus, just west of downtown, holds its largest concentration of students. For a lot of businesses, that means part of the audience changes every year and follows the school calendar.

New students and their families don’t know your name. They search “pizza near me,” “phone repair Kalamazoo” or “apartments near WMU,” compare a few sites and pick the clearest one. Parents searching for move-in weekend want the same thing: what you do, where you are, and how to reach you, on the first screen.

For a business that leans on students, I build the site so the details that change by semester, like hours, specials and leasing dates, are quick for you to update. The rest of the site stays focused on the year-round customers who keep you open when campus empties out.

Questions to settle before you hire a Kalamazoo web designer

Should my site mention downtown and the Kalamazoo Mall?

If you’re downtown, yes. The Kalamazoo Mall, created in 1959 by closing part of Burdick Street to cars, was the first outdoor pedestrian shopping mall in the United States. Two of its four blocks reopened to traffic in 1999. People search downtown by name, and events bring them in. The Arts Council runs Art Hop on the first Friday of each month, with downtown businesses and galleries showing local artists’ work.

So I put your downtown location in the first line of the homepage, the contact page and your Google Business Profile, with directions explained relative to landmarks people know. If you take part in Art Hop or other downtown events, the site should make the dates easy to find. The same goes for breweries and restaurants that draw visitors. Bell’s Brewery started here in 1985, and the city has plenty of other local breweries and brewpubs.

How does the Kalamazoo Promise affect a website for families?

The Kalamazoo Promise pays up to 100% of tuition and mandatory fees for four years at Michigan public universities and community colleges for resident graduates of Kalamazoo Public Schools, starting with the class of 2006. Not every Kalamazoo address is in that district. Small sections of the city fall in the Parchment, Comstock and Portage school districts.

If you’re a real estate agent, a builder or a property manager, that detail matters to buyers and renters with kids, and a page that explains it clearly answers a question they’re already asking. I’d confirm the district for each listing or neighborhood you write about, rather than assuming the city limits and the school district match.

What do you need from me to get started?

Your logo, your services, and the towns you actually serve. Photos of real jobs, your storefront or your team. Logins for your domain, hosting and current site, so nothing breaks when the new one launches. The questions customers ask you most often, because those turn into pages. I can write the copy, and you approve every page before it goes live. If you serve both Kalamazoo and Portage, tell me which jobs or customers came from where. Real examples make the area pages worth reading, and they’re what separate your site from a competitor’s that just swaps the town name. A few minutes on a call usually covers it.

  • A homepage that says what you do and that you serve Kalamazoo and Portage, in the first line
  • A page for each service, so Google has something specific to rank
  • Pages for Portage, Oshtemo or other areas, only where you do real work there
  • Click-to-call and a short form that works on a phone
  • Your Google Business Profile matched to the site’s name, address, phone and hours
  • Fast pages, tested on a real phone with Google’s own tools before launch

Kalamazoo sits halfway between Detroit and Chicago along I-94, and I’m in Harrison Township, a little over three hours away by car. The work runs by phone, video call and email. For ongoing rankings work after launch, including Kalamazoo SEO, see my Michigan SEO services. More on how a build runs is on my web design page. Send me your current site and the services you want more calls for, and I’ll tell you what I’d change first.

How it works

How a website project runs, from the first call to launch

  1. 01

    Discovery

A short questionnaire, then a call about your customers, your competitors and what a good month looks like.

  2. 02

    Design

I design the homepage first. You approve the direction before I build the rest.

  3. 03

    Build and launch

Every page built and tested on real phones. Every old page redirected, so the rankings you have carry over.

  4. 04

    After launch

I stay around for questions and changes. If you want updates handled for you, that is my management plan.

Who you'd work with

The web designer and local SEO consultant you'll actually talk to

I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.

I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!

FAQ

Questions from Kalamazoo business owners

My business is in Portage. Should my website say Kalamazoo or Portage?

Use your real address everywhere, exactly as it reads on your Google Business Profile. Then say on the site that you serve Kalamazoo too, if you do, because customers search both names. A page per area only makes sense if you have real work to show there.

Do you offer SEO for Kalamazoo businesses too?

Yes. Every site I build includes the local SEO basics. For ongoing ranking work in Kalamazoo, see my Michigan SEO services, which run month to month.

How much does a website cost in Kalamazoo?

My websites start at $2,500. A small site for one location sits near that number. More pages, booking, a store or copywriting raise it. You get a fixed written quote before I start.

Do you meet Kalamazoo clients in person?

No. I'm in Harrison Township, a little over three hours away by car. Every project runs by phone, video call and email, and you review the site on a link before it goes live.
