Show up where neighbors are looking
The map and the results under it for the searches that bring work: your service plus your town, or “near me.”
Mount Pleasant has three audiences searching at once, from CMU students and families to Soaring Eagle visitors and people who live here year round. I help local businesses reach the ones that matter to them.
What you get
You’re hiring someone who has done this for other businesses, not read about it. Thirteen SEO contracts on Upwork since 2016, from audits and setups for Eric W. and Nadia C. to ongoing work for Just Digital, Digital Concierge and Kenedy T., plus the local SEO I run for Captain Hook’s in the Florida Keys. The contracts are on my Upwork profile.

Rankings, Maps visibility, calls and form leads in one report, next to what I worked on and what is next.
Month to month, no lock-in. If the work is not paying for itself, you can end it.

The price depends on how many locations and services you have, how much content you need, and how crowded your market is. You get a written, fixed quote after a free consultation. No contract lock-in.
Mount Pleasant had 21,688 people in the 2020 census, down from 26,016 in 2010. It’s the Isabella County seat. The population figure doesn’t tell you much about the searches, though, because the city’s customers come in three groups that behave differently.
Central Michigan University. CMU’s main campus is here, and the university counts about 20,000 students at Mount Pleasant. Students search on their phones for food, haircuts, apartments, car repair and late-night anything. Parents search before move-in weekend and graduation for hotels and restaurants. Those searches rise and fall with the academic calendar.
Soaring Eagle visitors. Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort is in Chippewa Township, within the boundaries of the Isabella Indian Reservation, home of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Nation. Part of the city itself lies inside the reservation too. Casino and concert visitors come from all over the state and search for places to eat, shop and stay nearby.
Year-round residents. Families across Isabella County who need a dentist, an accountant, a roofer or a lawyer, the same as anywhere else. They search “near me” and pick from the Maps results.
Most businesses here serve one or two of these groups much more than the third. A plan that treats them all the same wastes effort. The groups also search at different times. Students search late at night and in the weeks around move-in. Casino visitors search around concert dates and weekends. Residents search all year.
So I start with your own data: which searches already bring you calls, which months are strong, and which group you want more of. Your Google Business Profile hours, posts and photos then get aimed at that group, and pages get written for the way they search. A plan for a late-night pizza place and a plan for a family dentist on the same street should look nothing alike.
Business US 127, called Mission Street, loops through the heart of the city and meets US 127 at each end. As the main road through town, it’s where a local business is most likely to run into chain locations in Google Maps, and chains tend to arrive with big review counts. To compete, you need a complete profile, a steady flow of new reviews and a website that answers questions the chains’ pages don’t: which neighborhoods you serve, what you do that they won’t, and who answers the phone. Chains rarely write any of that.
Maps rankings and search rankings for the searches we agreed matter, calls from the profile and the site, direction requests and form leads, with the previous month beside them. Because the audiences here swing with the CMU calendar, I show the same month last year too, so a quiet June doesn’t read as a failure. Under that, what I worked on and why, and what’s next.
Manager access to your Google Business Profile. Your real hours, including summer and holiday hours. Photos of your place and your people. A straight answer about which customers you want more of. Students and visitors move on fast, so a few minutes a week to ask for a review with a link I give you while they’re still around. And if you also serve Shepherd, Clare or the rest of Isabella County, the details of the work you do there, so those pages say something real.
Downtown is different from Mission Street. The Mount Pleasant Downtown Historic District is smaller and more local. Downtown businesses do better with searches that name the place: “downtown Mount Pleasant coffee,” “restaurants near CMU.” Pages and posts that use those names, and a profile that shows current hours, catch those searches.

If your business serves industrial or B2B customers, they search differently from students and shoppers: by the exact service and capability, not “near me.” Those buyers need a page for each thing you do.

Who you'd work with
I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.
Reviews
5.0 stars from 30 Google reviews, 5.0 from 5 verified Clutch reviews, and 83 client reviews on Upwork since 2016. 6 of the 13 I quote in full, with the source linked.
I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!
Communication is key, and that's his strong suit.

I have used Ryan for many years and on many client websites, he has always been responsive, efficient and been great to work with. With his expertise, he has been able to facilitate creating websites I am proud of, and I have always been able to count on him. I trust him completely and have recommended him to my past clients for ongoing work.
Ryan was a perfect fit. He's my first call if I ever need any help establishing or increasing my online footprint.
Ryan had excellent attention to detail and delivered with quality and speed when necessary.
FAQ
It can widen who finds you. Pages and profile details aimed at year-round residents and visitors, like casino guests and people passing through on US 127, can fill some of the gap. I'll look at your search data to see how big the seasonal swing really is.
If students, staff or visiting families are your customers, yes. Say how close you are to campus and what you offer them. Don't use the university's logo or imply a partnership you don't have.
My local SEO starts at $2,000 a month. A single location in a market this size often sits near that number. You get a fixed written quote, and it's month to month with no lock-in.
By phone, video call and email. I'm about three hours away by car in Harrison Township, and local SEO doesn't need me on site.
