Show up where neighbors are looking
The map and the results under it for the searches that bring work: your service plus your town, or “near me.”

Detroit is big enough that Google shows different results from one neighborhood to the next. I help Detroit businesses rank where their customers are.
What you get
You’re hiring someone who has done this for other businesses, not read about it. Thirteen SEO contracts on Upwork since 2016, from audits and setups for Eric W. and Nadia C. to ongoing work for Just Digital, Digital Concierge and Kenedy T., plus the local SEO I run for Captain Hook’s in the Florida Keys. The contracts are on my Upwork profile.

Rankings, Maps visibility, calls and form leads in one report, next to what I worked on and what is next.
Month to month, no lock-in. If the work is not paying for itself, you can end it.

Detroit had 639,111 people in the 2020 census, and the city’s own figures show it growing for three years in a row since, to an estimated 649,095 in 2025. It covers about 139 square miles of land. If an SEO company once promised you “page one in Detroit” and you never saw it, that size is a big part of why.
Google Maps ranks businesses partly on how close they are to the person searching. In a town of 15,000 people, almost everyone is close to everyone. In Detroit, “plumber near me” typed in Midtown pulls a different map from the same search on the far west side. A business can sit at the top of the map in its own neighborhood and not appear at all three miles away. A report that shows one ranking for “Detroit” hides that from you.
Most owners who call me have paid for SEO before and can’t say what they got for it. Open the ones you’ve been wondering about.
The first thing I do for a Detroit business is measure it. I check your Maps ranking on a grid of points across the city, then compare it to where your customers come from. The gap is usually easy to see: strong rankings around your address, weak ones in the neighborhoods that call you most.
That grid goes in your report every month, so you watch the map fill in, or not, instead of reading a single number for the whole city. Search rankings, calls from the profile and the site, and form leads sit next to it, with the previous month beside them. If something went down, it’s in the report with my read on why.
Detroit sits in a metro area of about 4.4 million people, and plenty of businesses in Dearborn, Southfield and the Pointes also chase Detroit searches. Some will have more reviews and older websites than you.
I focus on what Google can confirm. A Google Business Profile with the right primary category, every service listed and a steady flow of new reviews. Your name, address and phone number matching exactly across your site, Google, Yelp, Apple Maps and the directories in your trade. Service pages that answer the questions Detroit customers ask, written for a reader first. And links from Detroit organizations, neighborhood groups and local press where you’ve earned them. A competitor in Southfield can’t move its address into the city, and Google weighs that in Maps.
Usually not. Most Detroit sites I audit can be fixed: titles, a page for each service, speed on a phone, schema, redirects. Early months usually go to that foundation, plus the profile and the listings that disagree with each other. Later months shift toward new content, reviews and links, aimed at the parts of the city where your map rankings are weakest.
If the site is so slow or so locked into a page builder that fixing it costs more than replacing it, I’ll say so before you spend a month on patches. I also do web design for Detroit businesses, but I won’t sell you a site to make the SEO easier for me.
Manager access to your Google Business Profile. Photos of real jobs, real trucks and real people in Detroit, because stock photos don’t prove you work here. A short list of the neighborhoods your customers come from and the ones you want more of. A few minutes a month to ask happy customers for a review, with a link I give you. And answers to a handful of questions when I write a page, since the details that make a page rank come from you.
Tell me what your business does and where, and you get a written, fixed quote. No contract lock-in.
Get my quoteOr call 586-221-0792Detroit customers often search by neighborhood name, especially in the areas that have grown fastest. Mayor Duggan pointed to downtown, Midtown and Corktown as places turning into real neighborhoods. Each has its own search habits:
If you serve specific neighborhoods, your site should have pages that prove it: the streets you work on, projects you’ve done there, how quickly you can get there. A page that only swaps in the neighborhood name won’t do much.
I’m in Harrison Township, about 45 minutes from downtown Detroit by car, close enough to know the metro and how people here search.

Who you'd work with
I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.
Reviews
5.0 stars from 30 Google reviews, 5.0 from 5 verified Clutch reviews, and 83 client reviews on Upwork since 2016. 6 of the 13 I quote in full, with the source linked.
I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!
Communication is key, and that's his strong suit.
Ryan was phenomenal to work with! He asked great questions, understood our project, and delivered without issue and right on schedule. I definitely will re-hire and recommend him.
I have used Ryan for many years and on many client websites, he has always been responsive, efficient and been great to work with. With his expertise, he has been able to facilitate creating websites I am proud of, and I have always been able to count on him. I trust him completely and have recommended him to my past clients for ongoing work.
Ryan was a perfect fit. He's my first call if I ever need any help establishing or increasing my online footprint.
Ryan had excellent attention to detail and delivered with quality and speed when necessary.
FAQ
Maps results lean heavily on the searcher's distance from you. In a city of about 139 square miles, someone in Corktown and someone on the far east side can get completely different map results for the same search. Ranking well across the city takes a strong profile, strong reviews and a website with pages for the areas you serve.
Only for the ones you really serve and can say something real about. A page per neighborhood with the name swapped out is the kind of thing Google ignores. Five honest pages beat fifty copies.
My local SEO starts at $2,000 a month. Detroit markets like legal, home services and restaurants are crowded, so the work it takes to move up shapes the quote. You get a fixed written quote first, and it's month to month after that.
In regular search results, yes, with good service pages and links. In Maps it's harder, because Google weighs where your business is. I'll tell you up front how much of Detroit's map results you can expect to reach from your address.
Everything runs by phone, video call and email. I'm about 45 minutes from downtown in Harrison Township, so I know the area, but you won't need to drive anywhere.
