Show up where neighbors are looking
The map and the results under it for the searches that bring work: your service plus your town, or “near me.”
I help builders, remodelers and contractors rank for the projects they want and get more quote requests. I'm in Macomb County and work with contractors across Michigan.
What you get
You’re hiring someone who has done this for other businesses, not read about it. Thirteen SEO contracts on Upwork since 2016, from audits and setups for Eric W. and Nadia C. to ongoing work for Just Digital, Digital Concierge and Kenedy T., plus the local SEO I run for Captain Hook’s in the Florida Keys. The contracts are on my Upwork profile.
The map and the results under it for the searches that bring work: your service plus your town, or “near me.”
Rankings, Maps visibility, calls and form leads in one report, next to what I worked on and what is next.
Month to month, no lock-in. If the work is not paying for itself, you can end it.
From $2,000 per month
The price depends on how many locations and services you have, how much content you need, and how crowded your market is. You get a written, fixed quote after a free consultation. No contract lock-in.
Construction searches are slower than an emergency plumber’s. People plan, compare and look at your past work. The searches look like this:
A homeowner spending tens of thousands of dollars will look at several contractors. They want proof you’ve done this exact kind of job, close to them, and that past customers were happy.
Commercial work runs differently. A property manager or developer searching for a concrete or steel contractor wants to see project size, the kinds of buildings you’ve worked on, your safety record and whether you can handle their schedule. If you do both residential and commercial work, give each its own section of the site so neither buyer has to dig.
More than anything else on the site, if they’re set up right. Most contractor sites have one photo gallery with 80 unlabeled pictures. Google can’t tell what any of them are, and neither can a homeowner scrolling on a phone.
A better setup is a page for each service you sell, plus short project write-ups: what the job was, the town, a few before and after photos, and anything unusual you solved. Each one gives Google another page to rank for a project and town, and gives a buyer the proof they’re looking for. Commercial write-ups should add the building type, the size and the schedule you hit.
The primary category, to match the work you want most: General contractor, Home builder, Remodeler, Roofing contractor or Concrete contractor, with secondary categories only for work you actually do. The service area, since most contractors work at the customer’s property; I set up a service area and hide the address if you don’t have a public office. Photos of finished jobs, posted regularly, because recent photos tell people you’re active. And a review habit: ask when the job wraps up and the customer is happiest, and ask them to mention the project and the town. If the profile is the only thing you need, my Google Business Profile optimization is $400 one time.
If you build in a dozen towns, it’s tempting to make a dozen pages with the town name swapped. Google treats those as doorway pages. Build town pages where you’ve actually done work, and fill them with those projects. A page that shows three finished jobs in Shelby Township is worth more than 20 pages that say “we serve Shelby Township.”
Michigan licenses residential builders and maintenance and alteration contractors through LARA. The advertising rule for those licenses (R 338.1532) says a licensee’s ads must include the name, license number and business address as they appear on the license. Your website is advertising. I put that information in the footer of every page and on your contact page. Customers who check licenses can find you, and it’s one less thing to worry about.
Manager access to your Google Business Profile. A list of the jobs you’ve finished in the last year or two, with the town and a few photos of each, which is the raw material for every project page. The kinds of work you want more of and the kinds you’d rather stop taking. Your license details as they appear on the license. A text to the customer at the end of each job, with a review link I give you. And the names of suppliers, trade groups and partners you already work with, since those are where a contractor’s local links come from.

Who you'd work with
I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.
Reviews
5.0 stars from 30 Google reviews, 5.0 from 5 verified Clutch reviews, and 83 client reviews on Upwork since 2016. 6 of the 13 I quote in full, with the source linked.
I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!
Communication is key, and that's his strong suit.
Ryan was phenomenal to work with! He asked great questions, understood our project, and delivered without issue and right on schedule. I definitely will re-hire and recommend him.
I have used Ryan for many years and on many client websites, he has always been responsive, efficient and been great to work with. With his expertise, he has been able to facilitate creating websites I am proud of, and I have always been able to count on him. I trust him completely and have recommended him to my past clients for ongoing work.
Ryan was a perfect fit. He's my first call if I ever need any help establishing or increasing my online footprint.
Ryan had excellent attention to detail and delivered with quality and speed when necessary.
FAQ
Yes. Homeowners search by project and town and pick from the map results and reviews. Commercial clients search for capability, like "design build contractor" or "commercial concrete contractor," and they look for project history, safety and insurance details before they call. The site needs to serve whichever one you want more of.
Mostly through your Google Business Profile. Pick an accurate primary category, set your service area, get steady reviews that mention the project and town, and link the profile to a site that has a page for each service.
Probably not every week. Project pages with good photos and a few sentences do more for a contractor than generic blog posts. If you want regular articles, I write them for $150 each.
Profile and site fixes can start showing up within weeks. Ranking for competitive project searches in a big market takes months. I report every month so you can see what moved.
My local SEO starts at $2,000 a month, month to month. A Google Business Profile cleanup is $400 one time. My construction website cost guide covers what a new site runs.
