What you get

What local SEO should do for your business

You’re hiring someone who has done this for other businesses, not read about it. Thirteen SEO contracts on Upwork since 2016, from audits and setups for Eric W. and Nadia C. to ongoing work for Just Digital, Digital Concierge and Kenedy T., plus the local SEO I run for Captain Hook’s in the Florida Keys. The contracts are on my Upwork profile.

Show up where neighbors are looking

The map and the results under it for the searches that bring work: your service plus your town, or “near me.”

See what moved, every month

Rankings, Maps visibility, calls and form leads in one report, next to what I worked on and what is next.

Stop if it stops paying

Month to month, no lock-in. If the work is not paying for itself, you can end it.

Local SEO

From $2,000 per month

The price depends on how many locations and services you have, how much content you need, and how crowded your market is. You get a written, fixed quote after a free consultation. No contract lock-in.

How diners choose a restaurant

Most restaurant decisions happen in a few minutes on a phone. The searches are short:

  • “restaurants near me,” “pizza near me,” “brunch,” “sushi open now”
  • “best tacos in [town],” “patio dining,” “kid friendly restaurant”
  • your name, plus “menu” or “hours”

People pick from the map results. They look at the photos, the star rating, the price level and a few recent reviews, then tap to call, get directions or order. Many never visit your website at all. That makes the Google Business Profile the most important thing you have online, and it’s why a restaurant that paid for months of blog posts and saw nothing usually got sold the wrong work.

What to settle before you pay for restaurant SEO

What do you change on my Google Business Profile?

The primary category, to the most specific one: Mexican restaurant, Pizza restaurant, Seafood restaurant, Bar and grill. Plain “Restaurant” gives up searches for your cuisine. The menu, added to the profile and linked to the menu page on your site, with prices current. Your direct ordering and reservation links, so people can act without leaving Google. Attributes diners filter on: outdoor seating, takeout, delivery, happy hour, vegetarian options. Hours, with holiday and seasonal hours updated before the day, not after someone drives over to a locked door. And photos: real photos of your food, your dining room and your storefront, added often, because Google and customers both favor recent ones. My Google Business Profile optimization is $400 one time, and for a lot of restaurants that’s the best first spend.

How do I get more reviews without breaking Google's rules?

A restaurant gets more reviews than most businesses, and diners read them closely. Put a small card or QR code on the check or receipt that links to your review page. Reply to every review; short replies are fine. Don’t offer discounts or free food in exchange for reviews. Google’s policies forbid incentives for reviews, and reviews that break them can be removed.

Does my website matter if diners never leave Google?

It does, for the ones who do click through, and for how Google reads your business. Your site has a simple job: show the menu, hours, location, phone number and ordering link fast on a phone. Most restaurant sites fail on speed, usually from a giant video background or a menu that’s only a PDF. I build the menu as real text, add restaurant schema markup so Google reads your hours and cuisine correctly, and make the call, directions and order buttons easy to tap. If you have more than one location, each needs its own page and its own profile with its own hours and phone number.

Should catering and private events get their own pages?

Private events and catering bring in bigger checks than a regular table. If you host parties or cater, give each its own page with capacity, sample menus and a short inquiry form. People planning a rehearsal dinner or an office lunch search for exactly that, and most restaurant sites bury it in a line at the bottom of the homepage.

What do you need from me?

Manager access to your Google Business Profile. Your current menu with prices, as a file I can turn into text. Real hours, including the holidays you close. Photos of the food and the room, taken in daylight on a phone, sent whenever the menu changes. Your ordering and reservation links. And someone on the floor who will reply to reviews, or let me draft the replies for them.

Local events and seasons

Restaurants get extra searches around local events, holidays and seasons. A page or post for your patio opening, a holiday menu or a game-day special gives people a reason to pick you that week. In a downtown with a lot of choices, like Mount Clemens, that can make the difference.

Who you'd work with

The web designer and local SEO consultant you'll actually talk to

I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.

I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about local SEO services and pricing

What are the best local SEO services for restaurants?

The ones that start with your Google Business Profile, because that's where most diners decide. A good restaurant SEO service keeps your menu, hours and photos current, gets reviews coming in, and fixes the website so it loads fast and shows the menu as text. Long blog campaigns rarely matter for a restaurant.

Should my menu be a PDF?

Keep the PDF for people who want to print it, but put the menu on the page as text too. Text loads faster on a phone, it's easier to read, and Google can see what dishes you serve.

Do I need my own online ordering if I'm on delivery apps?

It's worth having. Delivery apps charge commission on every order. A direct ordering link on your Google profile and your site lets regulars order from you without that cut.

How do I handle bad reviews?

Reply to every one, briefly and calmly. Thank them, say what you'll fix if the complaint is fair, and invite them to contact you. Future diners read your replies, and a calm one often matters more than the bad review.

How much does restaurant SEO cost?

My local SEO starts at $2,000 a month, month to month. If your profile is the main problem, a one-time Google Business Profile optimization is $400, and that's where many restaurants should start.
