Show up where neighbors are looking
The map and the results under it for the searches that bring work: your service plus your town, or “near me.”
I help optometry practices show up when people search for an eye doctor nearby, and book more exams. I'm based in Macomb County and work with practices across Michigan.
What you get
You’re hiring someone who has done this for other businesses, not read about it. Thirteen SEO contracts on Upwork since 2016, from audits and setups for Eric W. and Nadia C. to ongoing work for Just Digital, Digital Concierge and Kenedy T., plus the local SEO I run for Captain Hook’s in the Florida Keys. The contracts are on my Upwork profile.
The map and the results under it for the searches that bring work: your service plus your town, or “near me.”
Rankings, Maps visibility, calls and form leads in one report, next to what I worked on and what is next.
Month to month, no lock-in. If the work is not paying for itself, you can end it.
From $2,000 per month
The price depends on how many locations and services you have, how much content you need, and how crowded your market is. You get a written, fixed quote after a free consultation. No contract lock-in.
Most new patients start with one of a few searches:
The practices that get these patients have a profile that’s complete, a page for each service, and an insurance page that names the plans they accept. If you’ve paid an SEO company before and never saw an insurance page, you paid for the wrong things.
The primary category, Optometrist, with Eye care center or Optician as secondary categories if they fit what you do. Whether each doctor gets a profile: Google allows individual practitioners to have profiles, and that can help you or split your reviews, so decide on purpose. The booking link, if you use online scheduling, so people can book from the profile. Services and photos: your exam types and specialty services, with real photos of the office, the frame wall and the team. And hours that match reality, including the Saturday hours patients search for. My Google Business Profile optimization is $400 one time.
The federal Office for Civil Rights has settled with practices over review replies. In 2019 a Dallas dental practice paid $10,000 after its Yelp replies disclosed patient information. In 2022 a California dental practice paid $23,000 over its replies to negative reviews. Both cases involved replies that gave out details of someone’s care.
So reply to every review, keep it short, and never confirm the reviewer is a patient or mention a visit. Ask for reviews by text or email after the appointment, using a HIPAA-friendly system your practice already approves. I’m not giving legal advice here. Your compliance officer has the final word.
A page for each core service: comprehensive exams, contact lens fittings, pediatric exams, dry eye, myopia management, medical eye care, whatever you actually offer. An insurance page that lists your plans by name, because “eye doctor that takes VSP” is a search you can only win by saying so. A doctor page for each optometrist, with credentials and what they focus on. Location pages only for real offices, with directions and parking. If you also sell frames and lenses, an optical page with the brands you carry helps people who search for a brand by name. Each page gets schema markup for the practice and the optometrist.
Yes, if you do it. Routine exams and medical visits draw different patients. Someone with a red, painful eye or a sudden change in vision searches with urgency and wants to know if you can see them today. Someone managing glaucoma or diabetes wants to know you handle ongoing care and bill their medical insurance. Say so on its own page, list the conditions you treat, and explain how same-day or urgent visits work. Many practices do this work and never mention it online, so the searches go to whoever does.
Manager access to your Google Business Profile. The list of plans you accept, kept current. Each doctor’s credentials and focus. Photos of the office and the team, with no patients in them. The review request method your compliance officer has approved. And a quick read of each page before it goes live, since only you can say whether a service is described the way you deliver it.
The same work applies to an ophthalmology practice or an optical shop, with different searches. An ophthalmologist competes for cataract surgery, LASIK and retina searches, where the patient is comparing surgeons rather than picking the nearest office, so the condition and procedure pages carry more weight than the map. An optical shop lives and dies on “eyeglasses near me” and brand names, which is map work and Google Business Profile product listings. I’ll tell you which side your practice sits on before quoting, and the price is the same starting point.

Who you'd work with
I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.
Reviews
5.0 stars from 30 Google reviews, 5.0 from 5 verified Clutch reviews, and 83 client reviews on Upwork since 2016. 6 of the 13 I quote in full, with the source linked.
I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!
Communication is key, and that's his strong suit.
Ryan was phenomenal to work with! He asked great questions, understood our project, and delivered without issue and right on schedule. I definitely will re-hire and recommend him.
I have used Ryan for many years and on many client websites, he has always been responsive, efficient and been great to work with. With his expertise, he has been able to facilitate creating websites I am proud of, and I have always been able to count on him. I trust him completely and have recommended him to my past clients for ongoing work.
Ryan was a perfect fit. He's my first call if I ever need any help establishing or increasing my online footprint.
Ryan had excellent attention to detail and delivered with quality and speed when necessary.
FAQ
The one that does what it says and shows you the results. Ask any company, including me, which Google Business Profile categories they'd use for your practice, how they'd handle reviews under HIPAA, and what you'd see in a monthly report. Be skeptical of guarantees, long contracts and anyone who can't explain the work in plain English.
No. I work with local service businesses of all kinds, including health practices. That means you get one person doing the work instead of a team running a template built for eye care. I think that's an advantage, but you should weigh it.
Usually not, if it's inside the practice and shares the address, phone and hours. One profile with Optometrist as the primary category and Optician as a secondary is simpler. A separate storefront with its own entrance and hours is a different case.
Yes, as long as the reply doesn't confirm the person is a patient or mention their care. Thank them, invite them to call the office, and leave it there. I can write reply templates your staff can use.
My local SEO starts at $2,000 a month, month to month. A one-time Google Business Profile cleanup is $400. A new practice website starts at $2,500.
