What you get

What a new website should do for your business

Your site won’t be my first. Since 2016 I’ve delivered 154 Upwork jobs for more than 100 clients, and 94 of them were WordPress and Divi websites: new builds, redesigns and rebuilds for NewtonX, Keller Williams Realty Consultants, the Institute of Reading Development, the World Food Travel Association, Website HQ and Arlene P., among others. Every one is listed on my Upwork profile.

More calls from people searching nearby

A page for each service and each town you serve, schema markup, and your Google Business Profile connected, so the site shows up when neighbors search.

A price you know before work starts

A written, fixed quote after a free consultation. Sites start at $2,500 and the number does not creep once we agree on it.

One person, start to finish

I design it, build it, write it and launch it. When you call with a question, you reach the person who made the last change.

From $2,500 one-time

Who’s searching in Grosse Pointe, and what they want to see

“Grosse Pointe” is five separate cities: Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe (often called Grosse Pointe City), Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Shores and Grosse Pointe Woods. Together they had about 46,500 people in the 2020 census, along the shore of Lake St. Clair between Detroit and St. Clair Shores.

That split is the first thing a Grosse Pointe website has to handle. Your address is in one city. Your customers may live in any of the five, or in Detroit’s east side, Harper Woods or St. Clair Shores. Plenty of people search for “Grosse Pointe” plus what they need without naming a city. A site that names only your own city misses the rest, and a site that says only “Grosse Pointe” can confuse Google about where you are.

The people searching tend to fall into a few groups:

  • Shoppers and diners heading for the Village or the Hill. They want hours, parking and a reason to pick you over the shop two doors down, on a phone, before they leave the house.
  • Clients for professional work. Financial planning, legal work, real estate, home design and specialty retail draw people who compare carefully and notice details.
  • Patients and households on Mack. Searching for a dentist, a practice or a service close to home, often with “Grosse Pointe Woods” or just “Grosse Pointe” in the search.

Two things about Grosse Pointe that change how I build

Why does each Pointe need its own treatment on the site?

Commercial streets here are compact, and they don’t look alike.

  • The Village. The City of Grosse Pointe describes the Village as a three-block retail district on Kercheval Avenue with some 40 stores and businesses. It runs from Neff to Cadieux and serves as the central shopping district for all five cities. The city and the Grosse Pointe Downtown Development Association work with businesses there.
  • The Hill. Grosse Pointe Farms’ district sits on a small bluff along Kercheval, with offices, shops, restaurants and the main branch of the public library.
  • The Park. Grosse Pointe Park has shops and restaurants on the cross-streets near its Cabbage Patch area, and a weekly farmers market in the warm months.
  • Mack Avenue. Grosse Pointe Woods’ main business district runs along Mack.

A boutique in the Village, a wealth advisor on the Hill and a dentist on Mack each need a different site, and each one should name its district and its city on the homepage and in the Google Business Profile. What they share is a customer who notices the details.

Why does the visual side get more care here?

Jefferson Avenue turns into Lake Shore Drive between the Farms and the Shores, past the Grosse Pointe War Memorial at 32 Lake Shore and the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House at 1100 Lake Shore. People who live along that road have high expectations. If you sell financial planning, legal work, real estate, home design or specialty retail here, a dated or cluttered site works against you before anyone calls.

So the visual side gets more attention on a Grosse Pointe site. Real photos of your space and your people, clean typography, plenty of room on the page, and copy that sounds like you. Stock photos of handshakes don’t help. The site still has to load fast and make it easy to call or book, because a good-looking site that hides the phone number loses the same calls a bad one does.

  • A homepage that says what you do and which Pointe you’re in, in the first line
  • Click-to-call, a short inquiry or booking form, and directions with parking notes for Kercheval or Mack
  • A Google Business Profile that matches your site exactly
  • Service-area pages for the other Pointes and the nearby towns you serve, like Detroit and St. Clair Shores
  • A design built around real photography, plus fast pages that work on a phone

A site with a portfolio of past projects, an online store or a booking system costs more than a five- or six-page site for a practice or shop, and the pricing guides show what drives the cost for different kinds of businesses.

I’m in Harrison Township, about 21 miles north along the same shoreline, and the work runs by phone, video call and email. Need the site to rank once it’s built? My local SEO service starts at $2,000 a month, month to month.

How it works

How a website project runs, from the first call to launch

  1. 01

    Discovery

A short questionnaire, then a call about your customers, your competitors and what a good month looks like.

  2. 02

    Design

I design the homepage first. You approve the direction before I build the rest.

  3. 03

    Build and launch

Every page built and tested on real phones. Every old page redirected, so the rankings you have carry over.

  4. 04

    After launch

I stay around for questions and changes. If you want updates handled for you, that is my management plan.

Who you'd work with

The web designer and local SEO consultant you'll actually talk to

I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.

I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!

FAQ

Questions from Grosse Pointe business owners

How do we work together if you're not in Grosse Pointe?

By phone, video call and email. Every project I run works that way, from the first call to launch. You see the design on your own screen while we talk it through.

How much does a website cost for a Grosse Pointe business?

My sites start at $2,500. A simple site for a professional practice or shop sits near that number. Custom photography direction, more pages, copywriting or online booking add to it. You get a fixed written quote before I start.

My business is in Grosse Pointe Woods. Should my site say Grosse Pointe or Grosse Pointe Woods?

Both. Use the city you're actually in, because that's what Google and your address say. Then mention the wider Grosse Pointes where you serve them, since a lot of customers search for "Grosse Pointe" without naming a city.

My customers expect a high-end look. Can a $2,500 site do that?

A clean, well-built site with good photos and careful copy can look expensive at that price. The cost goes up with the number of pages and features. If your project needs more, the quote will say so and explain why.

Can you help my shop show up in Google Maps?

Yes. Maps rankings come mostly from your Google Business Profile, backed by a website that agrees with it. My Google Business Profile optimization is $400 one-time.
