What you get

What a new website should do for your business

Your site won’t be my first. Since 2016 I’ve delivered 154 Upwork jobs for more than 100 clients, and 94 of them were WordPress and Divi websites: new builds, redesigns and rebuilds for NewtonX, Keller Williams Realty Consultants, the Institute of Reading Development, the World Food Travel Association, Website HQ and Arlene P., among others. Every one is listed on my Upwork profile.

More calls from people searching nearby

A page for each service and each town you serve, schema markup, and your Google Business Profile connected, so the site shows up when neighbors search.

A price you know before work starts

A written, fixed quote after a free consultation. Sites start at $2,500 and the number does not creep once we agree on it.

One person, start to finish

I design it, build it, write it and launch it. When you call with a question, you reach the person who made the last change.

From $2,500 one-time

A five-page site for a service business sits near that number. More pages, copywriting, booking or a store add to it. You get a written, fixed quote after a free consultation. No contract lock-in.

Who’s searching in Royal Oak, and what they want to see

Royal Oak had 58,211 people in the 2020 census. It’s an inner-ring suburb on the Woodward Corridor, about 10 miles north of downtown Detroit, with Woodward on its west side, I-75 on its east side and I-696 along the south. It also has one of the largest downtowns in Detroit’s suburbs, which makes it a different market from the bedroom communities around it.

Downtown, the theaters and the Detroit Zoo draw people from around the region. So a lot of your customers are searching from somewhere else, on a phone, deciding where to go tonight. They’ve never heard of you, they’re comparing you with the place two doors down, and they’ll pick whichever one answers their questions first: what you serve or do, whether you’re open, and where to park.

A Royal Oak homeowner searching for a plumber or a dentist wants something simpler. Proof you work here, a number to tap, and a reason to pick you over the next listing.

Three things about Royal Oak that change how I build

How does a crowded downtown change what the site needs to do?

The main shopping and dining district runs along Main Street and Washington Avenue. Nightlife centers on the Royal Oak Music Theatre and the Baldwin Theatre, and Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle has been part of the scene long enough to have hosted Tim Allen early in his career. The Downtown Development Authority, set up in 1976, runs a restaurant week to bring diners in.

For a restaurant, bar or shop downtown, that density cuts both ways. There’s foot traffic, but there are also dozens of places within a few blocks competing for the same search. The businesses that win on Google Maps tend to have complete profiles, current photos, lots of reviews and a website that loads fast and matches the profile exactly. So for a downtown business I put the menu on a real page, the hours and the reservation or ordering button near the top, and parking directions a visitor can follow from wherever they left the car. Restaurants have their own search problems, and my page on SEO for restaurants covers them.

How do the zoo, the market and the hospital change who finds you?
  • The Detroit Zoo. Most of the zoo sits in Royal Oak, with part of it extending into Huntington Woods. Family restaurants, ice cream shops and kid-focused businesses nearby can reach visitors who have never been to Royal Oak before, if the site says plainly how close you are.
  • The Royal Oak Farmers Market. It started in 1925 as a truck market at 4th and Troy streets, and the current building at 11 Mile and Troy dates to 1927. Vendors, caterers and food businesses who sell there need a site that explains where else to find them during the week.
  • Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital. The hospital is in the city, and medical, dental and therapy practices in the area compete for patients who search by specialty and insurance. A page that names the specialty and the plans you accept does more than one that says “quality care.”
  • The Woodward Dream Cruise. A major span of the cruise runs through Royal Oak. If it changes your hours or parking, say so on your site and your profile ahead of time.
Which towns should my service pages name?

Royal Oak’s ZIP codes are 48067, 48068 and 48073, and the city borders Birmingham, Troy, Clawson, Berkley, Ferndale, Madison Heights and several others. Service businesses here, from plumbers to cleaners to tutors, often work across those lines, and people in those towns search with their own town’s name, not yours.

So I build a page for each place you take jobs in, with something true on each one: the kind of work you do there, the neighborhoods you know, how far it is from your shop. The same page with the town name swapped doesn’t rank and doesn’t convince anyone. If you serve only Royal Oak, I say that, and the homepage carries the weight instead.

Your Google Business Profile needs to agree with those pages. The service area you set there, the categories you pick and the phone number you list all have to match the site. That matching is most of what a $400 one-time Google Business Profile optimization is for.

What I build for Royal Oak businesses

  • A homepage that says what you do and that you’re in Royal Oak, in the first line
  • For restaurants, a menu as a real page, hours, and a reservation or ordering button near the top
  • Click-to-call, a short quote form, and directions with parking notes for downtown
  • A Google Business Profile that matches your site exactly
  • Pages for the neighboring towns you work in
  • Fast pages that work on a phone on a crowded street

I’m in Harrison Township, about 25 miles away by road, and every project runs by phone, video call and email, so the drive never comes into it. You see each design on your screen while we talk, and you deal with me from the first call through launch.

Websites start at $2,500. A service business or a single-location restaurant with a menu page, hours and a contact form sits near that number. Online ordering, private event inquiries, gift cards or a store add to it. You get a fixed written quote before I start, and you own your domain, your site and your Google Business Profile. My pricing guides explain what drives the cost.

How it works

How a website project runs, from the first call to launch

  1. 01

    Discovery

A short questionnaire, then a call about your customers, your competitors and what a good month looks like.

  2. 02

    Design

I design the homepage first. You approve the direction before I build the rest.

  3. 03

    Build and launch

Every page built and tested on real phones. Every old page redirected, so the rankings you have carry over.

  4. 04

    After launch

I stay around for questions and changes. If you want updates handled for you, that is my management plan.

Who you'd work with

The web designer and local SEO consultant you'll actually talk to

I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.

I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!

FAQ

Questions from Royal Oak business owners

You're in Macomb County. How do we work together?

By phone, video call and email, the same way I run every project. Royal Oak is about 37 minutes from me, but distance doesn't change how the work gets done. You see each design on your screen while we talk.

How much does a website cost for a Royal Oak business?

My sites start at $2,500. A simple site for a service business or a single-location restaurant sits near that number. Online ordering, reservations, event calendars or a store add to it. You get a fixed written quote before I start.

I run a restaurant downtown. What does my site need?

Your menu as a real web page (not a PDF), your hours, a reservation or ordering button near the top, and parking directions. Keep the menu and hours identical on your site and your Google Business Profile, because diners notice when they don't match.

Should I plan for Dream Cruise weekend on my website?

If it changes your hours, your menu or your parking, yes. Put a short notice on the homepage and update your Google Business Profile hours ahead of time.

Can you help with SEO too?

Yes. My local SEO service starts at $2,000 a month, month to month with no lock-in. A new site built with local SEO in place gives it a better starting point.
