Website design in Marathon, FL

I started my business in the Florida Keys, and Captain Hook's, one of my clients, is right here in Marathon. These days I work from Michigan, by phone, video call and email.

What you get

What a new website should do for your business

Your site won’t be my first. Since 2016 I’ve delivered 154 Upwork jobs for more than 100 clients, and 94 of them were WordPress and Divi websites: new builds, redesigns and rebuilds for NewtonX, Keller Williams Realty Consultants, the Institute of Reading Development, the World Food Travel Association, Website HQ and Arlene P., among others. Every one is listed on my Upwork profile.

More calls from people searching nearby

A page for each service and each town you serve, schema markup, and your Google Business Profile connected, so the site shows up when neighbors search.

A price you know before work starts

A written, fixed quote after a free consultation. Sites start at $2,500 and the number does not creep once we agree on it.

One person, start to finish

I design it, build it, write it and launch it. When you call with a question, you reach the person who made the last change.

Website design

From $2,500 one-time

A five-page site for a service business sits near that number. More pages, copywriting, booking or a store add to it. You get a written, fixed quote after a free consultation. No contract lock-in.

Who’s searching in Marathon, and what they want to see

Marathon had 9,689 people at the 2020 census. It incorporated in 1999, and the city runs along U.S. 1 from the east end of the Seven Mile Bridge at Mile Marker 47 to Tom’s Harbor Bridge at Mile Marker 61. It takes in a chain of islands: Boot Key, Knight’s Key, Vaca Key, Fat Deer Key, Grassy Key and several smaller ones. Key West is 50 miles southwest on U.S. 1, and Key Largo is 54 miles northeast.

Marathon is a major sport fishing destination, with charter boats going out daily, and the reefs offshore bring in divers, snorkelers, spearfishers and lobster hunters. The Turtle Hospital, which rescues and releases injured sea turtles, draws visitors too. Most of those visitors are deciding on a phone, often the same day. They want to see the trip, the boat, the price and the open dates, and book without calling.

The Keys are where I started

I worked as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys before I built websites. I started building them because I got tired of chasing a web guy, so I knew what a dive or charter business needs from its site before I knew how to build one. I live in Michigan now and run my studio from Harrison Township, so Marathon projects are remote, with calls, video and email, a fixed written quote and your approval at each stage.

Three things about Marathon that change how I build

Should my site use mile markers, island names and the harbor?
  • Mile markers are addresses. Visitors and locals both give directions by mile marker. Your site, your Google Business Profile and your directory listings should all show yours, along with oceanside or bayside.
  • Island names get searched. Someone staying on Grassy Key may search “Grassy Key kayak rental” before they ever type “Marathon.” If you serve those keys, name them on your site, each with something true about what you do there.
  • The harbor is its own market. Boot Key Harbor sits between Boot Key and Vaca Key, entirely inside the city. Businesses that serve boaters (fuel, repair, provisioning, rentals) should say how close they are to it.

I put the mile marker in the first line of the homepage and in the page title, so it shows in the search result before anyone clicks. A visitor driving down U.S. 1 reads that faster than a street address.

What does a Marathon watersports site pull from Google?

Captain Hook’s Marina & Dive Center sits at 11833 Overseas Highway, Mile Marker 53 on the oceanside, with more locations on Big Pine Key and in Key West. They run scuba trips and dive instruction, snorkeling, fishing charters, boat rentals, sunset cruises and a bait and tackle shop. I’ve handled their website and SEO. From November 5, 2025 to November 5, 2026, their site earned 56,933 clicks from Google search, per their Search Console data.

That’s the strongest proof I can give a Marathon business. It’s a local watersports company on the same stretch of Overseas Highway as many of the businesses reading this page, competing for the same visitors.

I also built Marathon Watersports, an online booking site for jet ski tours, kayak, paddleboard and boat rentals, and bike rentals.

What does hurricane season mean for my website?

Hurricane Irma made U.S. landfall in the Keys on September 10, 2017. When a storm comes through, customers check your site and your Google listing to see if you’re open, and a charter customer with a booking next week wants to know whether to cancel. I build Marathon sites so closures, reopening dates and changed hours are quick to post, and I keep the Maps listing in sync so the two never disagree.

A site that answers “are you open” saves you a week of the same phone call. A photo of the boats back at the dock says more than a paragraph, so the notice area takes photos as well as text.

What I build for Marathon businesses

  • A homepage that says what you do, that you’re in Marathon, and your mile marker
  • Booking for charters, dives, tours and rentals, tested on a phone
  • Prices or starting rates shown up front
  • Real photos of your boats, gear and trips
  • Your Google Business Profile matched to the site
  • Fast pages that hold up on a weak signal at the dock

Plenty of Keys businesses don’t need a huge site. A clear five-page site with booking can do the job, and that’s close to my $2,500 starting price. My affordable website design page explains what fits in a smaller budget. You own your domain, your site and your Google Business Profile, and anything ongoing is month to month.

How it works

How a website project runs, from the first call to launch

  1. 01

    Discovery

A short questionnaire, then a call about your customers, your competitors and what a good month looks like.

  2. 02

    Design

I design the homepage first. You approve the direction before I build the rest.

  3. 03

    Build and launch

Every page built and tested on real phones. Every old page redirected, so the rankings you have carry over.

  4. 04

    After launch

I stay around for questions and changes. If you want updates handled for you, that is my management plan.

Who you'd work with

The web designer and local SEO consultant you'll actually talk to

I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.

I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!

FAQ

Questions from Marathon business owners

Are you based in Marathon?

No. I started my business in the Keys, but I'm in Harrison Township, Michigan now. I build Marathon websites remotely, by phone, video call and email. I don't do in-person meetings, but you always deal with me directly.

Who have you worked with in Marathon?

Captain Hook's Marina & Dive Center, at Mile Marker 53 on the oceanside, is my main Marathon client. I've handled their website and SEO. Their case study is on my project page.

I run a charter or rental business. What matters most on my site?

Booking and trust. Visitors want to see the boat, the trip, the price and open dates, then book on their phone without calling. Reviews and real photos do a lot of the convincing. I set up the booking flow and test it on a phone before launch.

How much does an affordable website cost in Marathon?

My sites start at $2,500. A five-page site for a small business sits near that number. More pages, copywriting or a full booking setup push it up. You get a fixed written quote before I start, so the price doesn't creep.
