What you get

What a new website should do for your business

Your site won’t be my first. Since 2016 I’ve delivered 154 Upwork jobs for more than 100 clients, and 94 of them were WordPress and Divi websites: new builds, redesigns and rebuilds for NewtonX, Keller Williams Realty Consultants, the Institute of Reading Development, the World Food Travel Association, Website HQ and Arlene P., among others. Every one is listed on my Upwork profile.

More calls from people searching nearby

A page for each service and each town you serve, schema markup, and your Google Business Profile connected, so the site shows up when neighbors search.

A price you know before work starts

A written, fixed quote after a free consultation. Sites start at $2,500 and the number does not creep once we agree on it.

One person, start to finish

I design it, build it, write it and launch it. When you call with a question, you reach the person who made the last change.

From $2,500 one-time

A five-page site for a service business sits near that number. More pages, copywriting, booking or a store add to it. You get a written, fixed quote after a free consultation. No contract lock-in.

The short answer

How you build it Typical cost What drives it Source
DIY website builder $19–$99/mo, billed yearly Your own time, template limits Squarespace pricing
Freelancer about $2,200–$7,250, median $3,250 Number of service-area pages, booking integrations Project Cost Estimator
Agency $5,800–$17,400 Same scope, agency overhead Project Cost Estimator
Running costs after launch $30–$150/mo Hosting, tools, maintenance Project Cost Estimator
Call tracking (if you run ads) $30–$50/mo Number of tracked lines Project Cost Estimator

Project Cost Estimator is an estimating site that doesn’t build websites itself. Its plumber page lists the freelancer low end as both $2,150 and $2,200 in different spots, so I’ve rounded to “about $2,200.”

What pushes a plumbing site up the range

Service-area pages. Project Cost Estimator calls these the main cost lever, and I agree. A plumber in Macomb County might want to show up in Sterling Heights, Clinton Township, Shelby Township and a dozen more. Each town page has to say something true about that town, like jobs you’ve done there or how fast you get there, or it’s just a copy of the last page with a new name.

Service pages. “Plumbing” is not a search people make when the basement is flooding. “Sump pump replacement,” “water heater installation,” “drain cleaning” and “emergency plumber” are. Each one needs its own page.

Booking and dispatch. A phone number and a short form are standard. Hooking into ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro so people can book a time slot takes more work.

Copywriting. You can write your own pages, and the price drops. Most plumbers would rather be on a job.

Moving from an old site. If your current site gets calls from Google, every old page address needs a redirect to the new one. Skip it and rankings can drop after launch.

Photos. Real photos of your trucks, your crew and finished work beat stock photos. If you don’t have them, a few weeks of snapping pictures on jobs fixes that for free.

What to put on a plumber’s website

  • A tappable phone number at the top of every page. Someone with a burst pipe wants to call you.
  • Whether you take emergency calls, and your hours, near the top.
  • What you do and where, in the first line. “Residential plumbing in Macomb County” is clear. “Your trusted plumbing partner” says nothing.
  • A page per service, with a photo and what the job involves.
  • A page for each main town you serve.
  • Your license and insurance.
  • Reviews, from your Google Business Profile.
  • A short quote form for non-emergency work: name, phone, address, and what’s wrong.
  • Financing details, if you offer them for big jobs like water heaters or repiping.

The Google Business Profile matters as much as the site for local plumbers, because the map results often show up above the regular ones. I set up both so your name, address, phone and services match. More on that in my Google Business Profile optimization service.

What to settle before you pay for a plumbing website

Will it bring in calls, or only look newer?

A new design on the same two-page structure gets the same calls as the old one. The number moves when someone searching “water heater replacement” or “emergency plumber” plus their town lands on a page about that job, sees your trucks and your crew, and taps the phone number without scrolling. That takes a page per service, a page per town you want work from, and a site that loads fast on a phone in a wet basement.

The other half is the map. For “plumber near me” the map listing shows above the regular results, and Google trusts it more when the name, address, phone number, hours and service list match the website exactly. I build the site and set the profile so they agree, and if the profile is the main thing holding you back, the Google Business Profile cleanup is a one-time $400 job on its own.

DIY, a freelancer, or an agency?

DIY works if you’re starting out and need a phone number and a list of services online. A Squarespace site does that. It won’t rank in towns beyond your own without a lot more work, and the time you spend on it is time off a job.

A freelancer fits most plumbing companies with one to a few trucks. You get a custom site with real service and town pages, set up for local search, from one person you can call when something breaks.

An agency makes sense if you run paid ads across a large area, need call tracking and want a team handling ads and SEO together. Expect to pay for account managers on top of the work, and ask who actually builds the site.

What will you need from me?

A list of the jobs you want more of, and the ones you’d rather not take. The towns you want calls from, in order. Your license number and insurance details for the footer. Photos from jobs, even phone photos, because a real water heater install beats a stock photo every time. The login for your Google Business Profile, your domain and your current site. Whether you take emergency calls and what hours. If you use ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber for booking, the embed or the login from that vendor. Then a few hours across the project to read what I send and tell me what’s wrong. Most plumbers have me write the pages, and you approve every one before launch.

What should I ask before I sign with anyone?
  • How many service pages and town pages are in the price? Get the count in writing so quotes compare on the same scope.
  • Who writes the pages? A cheap quote with no copywriting puts twenty pages on your desk at night.
  • Whose name is the domain in? Yours, with the login in your hands.
  • What happens to my old page addresses? If the builder doesn’t mention redirects, the calls you get from Google now can drop after launch.
  • What does the monthly fee cover? Updates, backups and security are worth paying for. Hosting alone is not worth a big monthly bill.

My websites start at $2,500, with a fixed written quote before any work starts. A plumber with a handful of services and one main service area sits near that floor. More town pages, copywriting and booking integrations add to it. Website management, covering updates, backups and security, is $99 a month, month to month, no lock-in. You own your domain and your site.

If you want the site itself, plumber website design covers what I build and why. If the site is fine and the problem is rankings, that’s SEO for plumbers. How it works

How a website project runs, from the first call to launch

  1. 01

    Discovery

A short questionnaire, then a call about your customers, your competitors and what a good month looks like.

  2. 02

    Design

I design the homepage first. You approve the direction before I build the rest.

  3. 03

    Build and launch

Every page built and tested on real phones. Every old page redirected, so the rankings you have carry over.

  4. 04

    After launch

I stay around for questions and changes. If you want updates handled for you, that is my management plan.

Who you'd work with

The web designer and local SEO consultant you'll actually talk to

I'm Ryan York, and WebPossible is a one-person web design and SEO company in Harrison Township, Macomb County. I learned the work as a scuba diver in the Florida Keys, tired of waiting on the person who ran our website, which is why I think about the phone ringing first and the design second. There's no team to hand you off to. The person who answers your first call is the person who designs your website, builds it and checks your rankings.

I hired Ryan to help improve the SEO of my business website and he has been so easy to work with from the time I submitted my inquiry through the finishing touches. He is extremely responsive, organized in his approach, and thoughtful in his execution. I had many questions that I threw at Ryan, and he was able to answer them all, which made me feel really good about the entire process. Since the initial work started, I have added on more page updates because I am already seeing positive results. I look forward to continuing to work with Ryan and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other business owners that I know!

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about my web design process and pricing

How much does a plumber website cost?

Project Cost Estimator puts a plumber site at about $2,200 to $7,250 with a freelancer, or $5,800 to $17,400 with an agency. My sites start at $2,500, and a plumber with a handful of services and one main service area sits near that.

Do I need a separate page for every town I serve?

For the towns that matter most to you, yes. A page for each one gives Google a reason to show you there. Each page needs real content about the work you do in that town, or it won't rank.

Can my website connect to ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro?

Usually, through the booking widget or form those tools provide. It adds some work to the build, which Project Cost Estimator lists as one of the cost drivers for plumbing sites.

What's call tracking, and do I need it?

Call tracking gives you a separate phone number per ad or source so you can see which ones bring calls. If you run paid ads, it's worth it. Project Cost Estimator puts it at $30 to $50 a month.

Do you work with plumbers outside Macomb County?

Yes. I work with plumbers anywhere in Michigan and beyond. Everything runs by phone, video call and email.
